Puppy Optimum Wellness Plan FAQ

It's best to enroll your puppy as early as possible, ideally soon after bringing them home. Early enrollment helps cover important first-year preventive care, including routine exams, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and other services your puppy needs as they grow.

Optimum Wellness Plans focus on preventive care, including routine exams, vaccinations, and diagnostic testing to help keep your puppy healthy. If your puppy becomes sick, such as with parvovirus, Banfield can provide treatment, but illness treatment is not included as part of the plan. Your plan discount may apply to services and medications in their treatment plan.

Your puppy OWP vaccination schedule includes distemper/parvo, Bordetella, leptospirosis, Lyme, and rabies. Read about the shot schedule and timing here. Your vet may recommend additional vaccinations based on their lifestyle.

Definitely! Optimum Wellness Plans bundle the preventive services puppies need during their first year into predictable monthly or annual payments, with a minimum average savings of 30%* when you use all included services compared with paying individual service prices.

Yes. Rescue and shelter puppies can enroll in Optimum Wellness Plans. Your Banfield veterinary team will perform a comprehensive exam and recommend preventive care based on your puppy's age, health, and medical history, when known.

Yes, you can enroll multiple puppies in Optimum Wellness Plans.

Both plans include routine preventive care, such as comprehensive exams, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, unlimited office visits, and more. Puppy Early Care Plus also includes spay or neuter surgery, making it a good option for pet owners who plan to have that procedure performed.

Spay or neuter surgery is included with Puppy Early Care Plus.

Yes. Parasite control is available as an OWP customization. It includes monthly prescription parasite prevention at a discounted price, and many pet owners choose convenient home delivery through our online pharmacy, the Banfield Shop.

Microchipping is not included in Optimum Wellness Plans. However, your plan discount can be used towards this procedure. Talk with your Banfield veterinary team to learn.

No. The WISDOM PANEL™ Health DNA Test is not included in Puppy Optimum Wellness Plans. However, it is available as a customization for pet owners who want more insight into their puppy's breed makeup and genetic health.
