    Dr. Christine Starer-Smith

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Starer-Smith is a Virginia Beach native and graduate of Cape Henry Collegiate School. She earned a B.S. degree in biology from Washington and Lee University and then earned her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After 8 years as an equine veterinarian, Dr. Starer joined Banfield in 2011. She enjoys preventive medicine, treating geriatric pets and those with chronic diseases, and getting to know her clients and pets. Dr. Starer resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with her husband, 2 children and her Jack Russell terrier, Dixie, and her Labrador retriever, Abby. She and Abby regularly make their rounds at local schools as Abby is a registered therapy dog and participant in the Paws to Read Program. More Details >>

    Dr. Jaime Clark

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Clark is originally from St Louis, Missouri. She earned her undergraduate degree in agricultural science from Truman State University. She then went on to earn her veterinary degree at St George's University. Dr. Clark joined Banfield in 2008 and enjoys seeing the bonds of people and their pets, and providing them quality of medicine that helps pets spend happy lives with their families. When not at work, Dr. Clark likes to spend time with her family. She and her husband have two daughters, having recently welcomed their new baby girl into their family.     Dr. Jacqueline Vacca

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Vacca grew up in Virginia Beach and completed her veterinary degree at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She particularly enjoys internal medicine and feline medicine. She recently moved back to the area from Atlanta, Georgia and is looking forward to being back in her home town, and meeting all the new clients and pets. She has a husband, a new baby girl, one dog (Otis) and two cats (Tede & Nala) at home. In her free time, Dr. Vacca enjoys spending time with her family, playing sports, and cruising to the Caribbean.     Veterinarian

    Dr. Smith is originally from High Point, NC. She and her husband have settled in Virginia Beach due to their careers. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology at UNC Wilmington and went on to graduate from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Smith particularly enjoys preventive and wellness care, soft tissue surgery, and feline medicine. When not at work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her husband and their mini doldendoodle, Callaway, and cat, Kaylee. They also enjoy spending time at the beach and exploring new restaurants.     Practice Manager

    Stephenie is originally from Massachusetts, lived in San Diego for a few years, and then moved to Virginia in 2016. She earned her degree in biology from San Diego State. Stephenie has been with Banfield for 3 years starting as a client service coordinator and recently being promoted to practice manager. Her household consists of an 18-year-old cat and a bull terrier.     Sandra Liedl

    Shift Lead

    Sandra is one of our two shift leads in the hospital. She has been with Banfield for about three years, working her way up from a pet care assistant, to vet assistant, and now shift lead. Sandra received her undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Virginia Wesleyan College. Career aspirations for her include completing law school. Sandra is not sure whether veterinary medicine will be included in her final career but knows that animals will always be a big part of her life.     Catie Grandelli

    Shift Lead

    Catie is our second shift lead. She joined our team when she transferred from the Williamsburg location. She joined Banfield as a veterinary assistant about five years ago and has had the opportunity to work at multiple different hospitals throughout her time with us. She notes that she has always known that she had a passion for animals and is so happy that she has been able to make a career out of her passion.     Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Jessica has been practicing as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Banfield since she graduated from Blue Ridge Community College’s Veterinary Technology program in May 2014. Born and raised in Virginia, she loves hiking in the mountains and relaxing at the beach whenever possible. When not hard at work, she looks forward to spending quality time with her husband and family.     Veterinary Assistant

    Bailey is originally from Tennessee and ended up in Virginia because of her husband’s job. She has a bonus daughter that has the same name as her, just spelled different, and two dogs, Romeo and Bella, and a cat named Zombie.     Veterinary Assistant

    Ryan has been with Banfield for 3 years, and earned his undergraduate degree in zoology from Liberty University. His love for animals has driven him to enroll in the Licensed Veterinary Technician Program with Penn Foster, where he is excelling in his studies.     Veterinary Assistant

    Lisa joined Banfield as a veterinary assistant in November 2011. She has had the privilege of watching the Banfield Landstown location change and grow. Lisa enjoys being present to watch our young patients grow from puppies and kittens into full grown dogs and cats. When not at work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family.     Frannee has been with Banfield since 2017. She is originally from California but has been in Virginia for a number of years. She earned her degree in biology from Old Dominion University.     Veterinary Assistant

    Jackie has been with Banfield for about 3 years. She originally started with as an extern while she was working to get her Veterinary Assistant Certification from Animal Behavior College. Once her certification was complete, she joined us as a full time assistant. She is now working to further her education by enrolling in the Veterinary Technician Program with Penn Foster. Jackie has always had animals in her life, from fostering new born puppies to adopting her rescue dog, Bella, and rescue cat, Merlin.     Veterinary Assistant

    Alexandra transferred to this location in 2017 from Chicago, IL. Her love of animals has driven her to enroll in the Veterinary Technician Program with Penn Foster. In addition to working at Banfield, Alexandra has been a member of the National Guard for about two and a half years. Alexandra has always had pets in her life. She grew up with three cats and currently has two bunnies named Snuggles and Buttons.     Kayla has been with Banfield since January 2018 as a client service coordinator, and enjoys working with and being around animals.
