Dr. Rebecca Houck
Chief of Staff
Dr. Rebecca Houck graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Shortly after, she joined Banfield Pet Hospital in Houston, Texas and practiced veterinary medicine for four years before moving to Roanoke, Virginia. Once in Roanoke, she was promoted to Lead Doctor and then to Chief of Staff in 2011. Her interests include dermatology and animal behavior, and one day she'd like to become boarded in one or both disciplines.

Dr. Jasmine Bryant
Veterinarian
Dr. Bryant grew up in Staunton, VA before heading to Virginia Tech where she earned her B.S. degree in wildlife science in 2012. She then went on to continue her education at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her DVM in 2017. She has a passion for shelter medicine, wildlife medicine and exotic pet care. Dr. Bryant currently resides in Roanoke, and enjoys playing basketball, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family (two and four-legged alike). Nikalai is her 5-year-old mixed breed pup who is currently awaiting the results from his Canine Genetic Analysis. We can't wait to see what mixed breeds have made up this perfect pooch!

Dr. Shaina Desai
Veterinarian
Dr. Desai was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and joined the Banfield team. She is interested in exotic pets, soft tissue surgery, and neurology. In her spare time, she likes reading, hiking, cooking, and exploring Atlanta.

Julie Sanborn, LVT
Practice Manager
Julie grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Blacksburg to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Virginia Tech. She later went back to school to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary technology, so that she could be boarded as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. After going back to school, Julie practiced in specialty and emergency medicine for several years, before joining the Banfield team in Roanoke in 2015. When she is not enjoying the company of all of her patients at work, Julie enjoys playing outside with her two dogs, Dank and Kaya. They enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, kayaking, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors any way they can!

Inna, LVT
Veterinary Technician
Inna has been with Banfield since July 2018 and joined our team in Roanoke in summer 2019. She grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA and recently graduated from Wilson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary medical technology. She moved to the Roanoke area in the summer of 2019 in search of professional growth and opportunity in the veterinary field, and is looking forward to having the opportunity to make a difference in pets’ lives at Banfield. She intends to return to school in the near future to acquire a degree in veterinary medicine, and then go on to pursue her passion, equine medicine, with special emphasis on equine athletes. When not working on her professional goals, Inna spends time training and competing with her horse, Jackson, in the discipline of Eventing, and relaxing on the couch or running trails with her whippet, Denver!

Veterinary Technician
Melanie graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2018. A native of the Roanoke area, Melanie joined Banfield in September 2019 and is excited to use all of her veterinary technician skills to help pets live healthier, longer lives. Melanie has three cats, Casper, Curly and Charlotte, but loves pets of all kinds. Fall is her favorite time of year and when not at work, she can be found enjoying the outdoors.

Blair has been with Banfield since 2005 but joined the Roanoke team in May 2017. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. She loves all things Disney and also loves to travel whenever her schedule allows. Blair doesn’t currently have any pets of her own, but considers her clients’ pets a big part of her extended family!

Chelsea has been with Banfield since March 2011 and in the animal care field since 2006. She absolutely loves taking care of cats and dogs, and educating clients on the best possible care for their pets! Chelsea has 2 children, Kira and Elan, and 4 pets, Lily is a Pit Bull (pictured), Royce is a Catahoula, and Millie and Pita are kitties.

Please meet Samantha (aka. Sam M!!). She is one of the two Sams who joined our team this summer!! She is from Miami, Florida and cannot wait to start her veterinary technician schooling in the immediate future. She aspires to specialize as a LVT in emergency and critical care, and then to later further her studies to become a veterinarian. Her personal pets include three super sweet dogs, one super spoiled Saddlebred, and one ball python. We love Sam’s constant positive attitude, her eagerness to learn, and are excited to be a part of her journey to achieving her professional goals.

Amanda is a mother of 3 teenagers, is an animal enthusiast, and loves her job as a veterinary assistant on our team. She has acquired quite the collection of animals in her home including 4 dogs, 2 ferrets, 2 chinchillas, a bearded dragon, and a guinea pig! When not at work, Amanda enjoys hanging out with her family and friends. She hopes to pursue a career as a LVT in the future and is looking forward to a long career with Banfield!

She is a native of Virginia with a strong passion for both the equine and canine industry. She is a certified equine and canine sports massage therapist that knows her way around an animal. Sam is a professional in the equine industry with her knowledgeable skills and passion that allow her to train high caliber equine. Her love for animals will carry her a long ways here at Banfield. Corinne is new to our location but not to Banfield! She is currently a vet student at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, and has an immense interest in working with exotic pets. She has been a martial artist since age three, and used to be an NCAA Division III lacrosse player. She absolutely LOVES napping and hanging out with her dog, Milo. Corinne joined us in the summer of 2019 and has hit the ground running at our location. She also has the most contagious, beautiful smile!

Adam has been with Banfield since the summer of 2018 working at the Fair Lakes Location in Northern Virginia, and just recently joined our team! He has made it his only goal in life to spread happiness and plans to do this via his two passions. First, being work in veterinary medicine to heal our companions who give us so much love. As well as continuing his studies with a Master of Social Work degree to begin working as a family and marriage therapist.
