    Dr. Julie Sanders

    Chief of Staff

Dr. Sanders graduated from McDaniel College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology. She earned her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and entered directly into private practice as an Emergency Veterinarian. Dr. Sanders also worked part-time with the South Central (VA) Spay-Neuter Clinic, quickly rising to the role of Interim Veterinarian-In-Charge. During her tenure with the spay-neuter clinic, she helped organize a grant-funded trap-neuter-release feral cat program in cooperation with the local animal shelter. Dr. Sanders joined Banfield in 2014 as a Chief of Staff for the South Philly location. When not at work, she enjoys travel, wine, music, and a good long hike with her two adopted Dobermans, Raven & Talulah. More Details >>

    Dr. Beth Charles

    Veterinarian

Dr. Charles began her career at Banfield in 2016. She relocated here from Australia in 2015, bringing with her a master's in animal nutrition (2010), and BVSc (2015), both from University of Sydney. She has had dogs and horses all her life, so after a brief stint in a different career, veterinary medicine was the perfect choice! She particularly enjoys learning and teaching the differences in animal medicine in different countries. When not busy with the work she loves, she enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband and their dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Einstein. More Details >>

    Deanna Russell

    Practice Manager

Deanna began her career at Banfield in 2015, after spending many years in retail management. She was delighted to discover her developed skills could be put to use in a veterinary hospital! She now enjoys building and leading the South Philadelphia team and helping everyone there to learn and grow. She comes to us with a degree in marketing and a love for all animals. Deanna says since she grew up in a no-pet household, she’s making up for lost time with her 3 loves, rescued cats, Clarence, Mr. Bond, and George Bailey. When not working or with her pets, she loves to garden, read, collect antiques, and visit New York to see Broadway shows. More Details >>

    Jasmine Hill

    Veterinary Technician/Shift Lead

Jasmine came to Banfield in 2013 as a Veterinary Assistant, after having completed the Manor College Program of Veterinary Technology. She then became a Certified Veterinary Technician in August 2014. Not one to stay idle for long, she plans to return to school to complete her bachelor’s degree. She has a special interest in feline infectious diseases and feline oral health, and is eager to learn all she can. She has one cat named Jimmy, who prefers to be called Sir James! When not busy in her new role as Shift Lead, Jasmine stays fit using Pilates and is currently learning to play guitar. More Details >>

    Joanne Wallach

    Veterinary Technician

Joanne began her career with us in early 2013. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Indiana, Bloomington and an A.S. degree in veterinary technology. She is currently attending Temple University to become a Physician’s Assistant. She has a special interest in cats and geriatric patients, but she loves ALL our patients. When Joanne is not at work, studying or spending time with her non-human best friend, her sassy cat Callie, she loves to travel, spend time outdoors and ski. She also participates in local Philadelphia sports leagues, most recently bowling and kickball, and looks forward to adding more. She’s always up for new challenges! More Details >>

    Alyssa Agnes

    Veterinary Assistant

Alyssa began her career in November 2015 as a Client Service Coordinator. Her passion for animals began at a young age when she would chase stray pets, determined to catch them and find them forever homes. These days, she brings her love for animals every day, where she has developed the courage and confidence to return to school to be a veterinarian. After just a few months, she transitioned to a Veterinary Assistant position, so she’s well on her way to realizing her dreams. This South Philadelphia girl is a goofball at heart and loves to have fun with her patients and clients. She loves getting to have fun with cute, fluffy pets all day! More Details >>

    Melissa Anderson

    Client Service Coordinator

Melissa joined Banfield in 2013, and came to us with a certificate in grooming from Penn Foster. Having grown up with animals, Banfield was a perfect fit! As a child, Melissa would try to save every stray she found, and hoped to one day become a veterinarian. Although life took her in a different direction, she fulfilled her passion for animals by volunteering to be a dog walker at a shelter. When she is not busy with work or her family, Melissa enjoys reading mystery novels. The number one thing she would like our clients to know? “When you cry, I cry. When you are happy, I am happy”.
