    Dr. Stephanie Smith


    Dr. Stephanie R. Smith graduated from the University of Georgia and has worked with Banfield for over 9 years. Her special interests include dogs, cats, internal medicine, surgery and oncology. She has three pets including a rescued Yorkie (Elton John), a rescued black and white cat (Kat Ballou), and a rescued border collie (Havasu). She loves being a veterinarian but when she's off, her leisure time is occupied with pets, playing a variety of stringed instruments with little skill and great enthusiasm, gardening, reading, learning to paddle board, fishing (pole in water, nothing on the hook), and spending time with family and friends enjoying the great North Carolina coast.     Dr. Heather O'Brien


    Dr. Heather O'Brien graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She worked in Burgaw, NC for a year and a half in a mixed-animal practice. Dr. O'Brien started practicing with Banfield of Wilmington in December of 2006. She came to the practice in Jacksonville in April of 2010. Dr. O'Brien brings a heartfelt care and compassion to both owners and their pets. She enjoys educating clients on responsible pet ownership and preventive care.     Dr. Jamie Catanzaro


    Dr. Catanzaro grew up in New Jersey and moved to Wilmington, NC in 2001 to attend UNCW where she received a B.S. degree in chemistry. She attended NCSU-CVM from 2005-2009. Dr. Catanzaro practiced at the Wilmington Banfield location from 2009-2016 before moving to the Jacksonville location. Her veterinary interests include dermatology, soft tissue surgery and acupuncture. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, reading and cooking.     Dr. Christina Schmitt


    Dr. Schmitt is a 2014 graduate of Ross University and completed her clinical training at Auburn University in Alabama. She grew up on Long Island, loves to travel and has studied abroad in Australia and Guatemala. Dr. Schmitt's veterinary interests include preventive care, internal medicine, and cardiology. Dr. Schmitt has three dogs and three cats at home and in her free time, she loves outdoor activities including taking the dogs to the beach, paddle boarding and kayaking. More Details >>

    Dr. Burlingham graduated from Kansas State University in 2008. She lives in Greenville on a farm with her husband, cats and dogs, and enjoys making pottery. Her favorite part about working in Jacksonville is going to the beach after work. More Details >>

    Dr. Ashley Massey


    Dr. Massey is a 2016 graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is a native of North Carolina and completed her undergraduate studies at NC State University. She grew up in Burlington but spent each summer with her grandparents along the crystal coast. Dr. Massey completed small animal acupuncture courses at the Chi Institute in Florida and is currently working on her certification. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, kayaking, and boating with her pointer hound mix and her black lab mix, Hazel and Lilly.     Dr. Deidra Shuck-Lee


    Dr. Shuck-Lee is originally from Huntsville, Alabama and is a 1996 Auburn University DVM graduate. She joined the US Army Veterinary Corps after graduation and enjoyed serving in several locations including overseas in Cairo, Egypt, Central Asia, and Western Africa. In the Army, Dr. Shuck-Lee obtained additional training in preventive medicine resulting in board certification in the ACVPM, PhD in microbiology, and advanced dentistry and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Shuck-Lee enjoys working with exotics pets, as well as dogs and cats. She also has special interests in surgery, pain management, and integrative therapies. She has currently settled in Hampstead, NC with husband, Robert, daughter, Kathrine, son, Joshua, dogs, Daisy and Wally, cats, Shadow, Stormy, Joey, and Cinnamon, tortoises, Ruskie and Tom, and a Conure named Max.
