    Dr. Rachel Germain

    Chief of Staff

    Dr. Rachel Germain has been working with Banfield in Durham, NC since 2012. After graduating from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, she worked as an equine veterinarian for 4 years before transitioning to small animal practice. At the office, Dr. Germain is passionate about preventive care, feline medicine and creating a welcoming environment for all of our patients. At home, she loves spending time with her 2 young children, family, and her pets, Remington (who came into the family in her last year of veterinary school) and Star (who was 8 days old when she was adopted).     Dr. Stacy Amelio


    Dr. Stacy Amelio has been with Banfield since 2016. She received her veterinary degree from NC State Veterinary School. She has a passion for surgery and is actively broadening her capabilities learning new procedures from a board certified surgeon and continuing education courses. Dr. Amelio also has a passion for all types of exotic animals. She has performed spay and neuter surgeries on rabbits, as well as dentals to address sharp teeth, and has also treated several koi fish here in Banfield Southpoint!     Dr. Nicole Gerardi


    Dr. Nicole Gerardi graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical rotations at North Carolina State University. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Gerardi decided to stay in North Carolina after attending NC State and falling in love with the climate and triangle area. She has been with Banfield since graduating vet school in 2015 and has been working at the Southpoint location since 2016. Dr. Gerardi loves educating clients about preventive care and working in a fear free hospital. She shares her home with 4 dogs, 2 cats and an African grey parrot who loves to talk!     Dr. Chelsea Mursch


    Dr. Chelsea Mursch is a 2018 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she fostered a special interest in low-stress handling and behavioral medicine. She is passionate about client education and eager to meet you and your pets. Dr. Mursch has 2 dogs and 3 cats of her own, and spends her free time horse back riding and exploring the Raleigh area.     Stephanie has been with Banfield since 2003. She graduated from Meredith College in 2004 with a B.S. in biology (pre-veterinary concentration), a B.A. in chemistry, and a minor in dance. Stephanie has been married to her husband, Jason, since February 2007 and they have 2 daughters, Madelyn Grace and Avyelle Hope. Additionally, she has 6 pets: a black lab mix named Baby Grace, a terrier mix named Oliver, a beagle named Savannah (Banna for short), and 3 tuxedo cats: Leo, Cleo, & Whiskers.     Luana has been with Banfield since November of 2016. She is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She moved to the US in 2015 when she married her husband, Andrew. After rescuing her third kitten, she found veterinary medicine to be a great passion so she is currently furthering her knowledge to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has 5 very loved rescued kitties, Steven, Cece, Charlie, Amora and Boris, and 2 cherished beagle-hound mixes, Nala and Molly.     Melissa McLaughlin, RVT

    Veterinary Technician

    Melissa started working for Banfield in November 2017 and transferred here from the Cary location in December 2018. She was born and raised in New York, and graduated with a B.S. degree in veterinary technology from Mercy College in 2004. She moved to North Carolina in 2006 to work for the intermediate care department at NCSU CVM and was there for 6 years. She has experience ranging from emergency to hands-on care, and is looking to work towards becoming a veterinary technician specialist in feline medicine. Melissa currently lives in Holly Springs with her tortoiseshell calico named Penelope. She is an eco-conscious Yoga addict and enjoys knitting in her free time. More Details >>

    Tori joined the Banfield team in June 2017. After completing her Associate of Science degree from Corning Community College, she attended Elon University to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in biology.     April has been working at Banfield since October 2009. She graduated from North Carolina State University in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. She currently has three pets at home, a mixed breed dog named Leelo and two cats, Suri and Mowglie, all of which she rescued.     Matthew started with Banfield in 2017. He was born in Texas and graduated from Taunton High School in Massachusetts in 2017, where he was very heavily involved in DECA. DECA taught Matthew about hospitality, business, customer service, and management. He hopes to one day become a practice manger of a Banfield hospital and is well on his way to reaching that goal.     Racheal Clevenger

    Veterinary Assistant

    Racheal has been with Banfield since July of 2017. She graduated from South Granville High School in 2017 and is a current student with Penn Foster College studying veterinary technology. Racheal has always had a passion for animal science and became a certified veterinary assistant in her senior year of high school.     Alyssa has been working at Banfield since 2014. Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Miami, Florida, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina during high school and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at UNC Chapel Hill. At school, she works as an animal enrichment assistant and helps lead the pre-veterinary club. At home, Alyssa has a cat, Nala, a dog, Copper, and a ball python, Monty.     Veterinary Assistant

    Konnor has been working with Banfield since June 2018. Transferring from Hampton University, he looks to earn his Bachelor of Science degree at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Upon completion, he looks to pursue veterinary school and has interests in conservation and research in large exotics and working as an equine veterinarian. Konnor largely contributes his interest in animal care through faculty at Hampton University's Equine Facility, Dr. Fuller of Caswell Veterinary Services, and his family. Although he loves his large animals, his Maltese-Yorkie, Kensley, has his heart. For fun, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and always learning something new.     Charlotte began working at Banfield in May of 2018. She is from Chapel Hill, NC and is working towards a B.S. in animal science at NCSU. She hopes to go to veterinary school after completing her undergraduate degree, and is especially interested in wildlife rehabilitation. When not at Banfield or studying, she volunteers for NCSU's Turtle Rehabilitation Team, and helps out at non-profit spay/neuter clinics.     Kyle Cortes

    Veterinary Assistant

    Kyle has been with Banfield since October of 2018. He was born in Delaware but has traveled across 5 continents, 16 countries and 20 states, with his latest stops being in Wilmington and Durham NC. Kyle has two cats which came to him in very bad shape but have since made turnaround recoveries and are growing up into wonderful healthy and loving little fluffballs. He currently resides in Durham and is finishing up his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of North Carolina. Kyle loves animals and people, and enjoys being able to work with them every day. He also taught himself to speak Spanish and loves learning as much as he can about the language and the various Latin cultures and dialects, especially those of Colombia, the country where half of his family were born and raised.     Alex joined the Southpoint team in December 2014. Prior to that, he worked for PetSmart for 10 years, 5 of those in management. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology. He has a joy for helping animals along with educating people in the care of them.     Samantha is originally from Pennsylvania where she began her Banfield experience. When not working at Banfield on the weekends, Samantha is a 6th grade social studies teacher. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her fiancé, read books and drink coffee. She has 2 pets, a German Shepard named Zeus and a Jersey wool rabbit named Apollo.     Devin is an active animal lover and a 20+ year vegetarian. She has spent many hours volunteering at various animal shelters both here in North Carolina and back in her home state of Florida. She and her sister, Megan (who also works in this hospital), have 12 rescue dogs, cats, and horses between the 2 of them and secretly wouldn't mind a 13th! She is a recent graduate of the University of North Florida with a BSH in public health and is currently working towards a master's in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.     Loa has been with Banfield since November of 2014. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and German. She has three pets, all canine rescues, Flash, Dexter and Bronson. She spends most of her time staying at home with her amazing daughter and when Loa has free time, she enjoys reading, rock climbing, spending time outdoors hiking, cooking and watching movies.     After working in fields ranging from art/design, medical, management and customer service, Bethany combined her work experience with her love of animals and joined Banfield in February 2018. Originally from Iowa, she grew up surrounded by animals big and small. Bethany studied photography and graphic design at the University of Iowa before moving to North Carolina four years ago. She has three dogs that keep her busy and if she's not adventuring with them and a camera outdoors, she is probably curled up with them and a book or in the kitchen pretending she can cook.     Tanya started working at Banfied in June 2018. She grew up in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina to attend Elon University. She earned her B.A. degree in English and philosophy and later a MBA with a focus on project management. She has been a lifelong volunteer with animal rescue groups and decided to turn her love of caring for animals into a career.     Jordan joined the Banfield team in March of 2018, after moving to Durham, NC in July of 2017. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. She adores any and all types of movies and has made it a habit to reference entirely too many of them in casual conversation.
