    Dr. Melissa Sawyers

    Chief of Staff

    Dr. Melissa Kail Sawyers grew up in Frankfort, KY. and received her Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Kentucky University in 2009. She then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013 from Auburn University. After graduation, Dr. Sawyers moved back to her home town and joined the Banfield team. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but especially enjoys preventive care and internal medicine. She believes in compassionate, high quality care for your pet. Dr. Sawyers is married to Brandon and has 2 children, Katelyn and Jacob. They share their home with 4 basset hounds, 2 shih tzus, and 2 cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Sawyers loves being outdoors, especially out on the lake, and has a fondness for horror films. More Details >>

    Dr. Rebecca Elder


    Dr. Rebecca Elder grew up in Lexington and completed her undergraduate degree in English literature at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing at Banfield since 2011. In her spare time, she is studying Finnish and hopes to visit Finland one day. Dr. Elder has a variety of critters including Australian cattle dogs and sheep. More Details >>

    Dr. Deborah Newcomb


    Dr. Deborah Newcomb grew up in Chicago, IL. She received her undergraduate degree in animal science at the University of Illinois, her master's in animal nutrition from Kansas State, and her DVM from the University of Missouri. Dr. Newcomb has practiced in Northern KY, Minneapolis, MN and Richmond, KY prior to joining our team here in Lexington. She has particular interests in internal medicine, nutrition, and dermatology. Dr. Newcomb and her husband, Mark, have 2 grown children, and they live on a hobby farm in Lexington with 3 horses, 2 Gordon setters, 2 cats and 18 chickens. During her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, sewing and visiting her children. More Details >>

    Dr. Amanda Brumley


    Dr. Amanda Brumley grew up in Northern KY and received her Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Kentucky University in 2008. She then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012 from Auburn University. After graduation, Dr. Brumley moved back to Bluegrass and worked for a progressive small animal practice before joining Banfield. Her interests in veterinary medicine include integrative medicine, nutrition, internal medicine and surgery, and she has a passion for large breeds dogs. Dr. Brumley has 3 golden retrievers whom she breeds and shows. She is a golden enthusiast but loves all things cute and fluffy!     Dr. Emily Galliers


    Dr. Galliers was born in the Chicago suburbs and moved with her family several times before settling in Richmond, KY. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. degree in biology and minors in chemistry and agriculture in 2007 and from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduation, she practiced for 5 years in Richmond before joining Banfield in April 2016. She believes in proactive preventive care and has a passion for soft tissue surgery and internal medicine. She also enjoys treating and performing surgery on small mammal exotic pets (rats, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc). Dr. Galliers lives in Richmond, with her husband, Jason, their 4 dogs, 5 cats, 8 Dumbo rats and a fish. She spends her free time hiking and back country camping with her husband and dogs, and enjoys fostering and working with rescue dogs, cats and the occasional ferret. More Details >>
