    The Tampa Harris Banfield Pet Hospital is an AAHA accredited practice conveniently located in Tampa, Florida, just east of I-275 in the historic Seminole Heights area. Well established in the community since 1965, the hospital offers a full range of veterinary services from surgery and dentistry to boarding and grooming. 

    Many of our surgical procedures include the use of laser. We offer diagnostic tests including blood testing, xrays, urinalysis, electrocardiograms, ear and skin cytology, and more! Concern for preventive medicine is the hallmark of a good pet hospital which is why we offer and encourage Optimum Wellness Plans® for our Tampa, Florida guests. Our high standards apply to every aspect of our organization assuring that your pet will receive the finest medical care.

    Dr. Brian Shaw


    Dr. Shaw was born in South Africa and grew up on a dairy farm with a succession of pets that included sheep, goats, a parrot, cats and dogs. He has been fortunate in being able to pursue his dream in a career that allows him to interact with people and help their pets. A 1964 graduate of the University of Pretoria Veterinary School, Dr. Shaw began his career in building a general private practice and hospital in South Africa, prior to emigrating to the United States in 1975. Once in Tampa, he joined and then acquired Harris Animal Hospital in East Tampa and soon after, built Village Animal Hospital in North Tampa. We became part of the Banfield family in June 2016.     Dr. Gary Flicker


    Dr. Flicker was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois. He has lived and practiced for over 35 years in Tampa and has been actively involved in the medical and surgical care of both dogs and cats. He is very concerned about meeting owners' expectations and staying current on veterinary health care. When not at work, his outside interests include spending time with his family, friends and 2 dogs, exercising and traveling.     Dr. Yadira Santos-Brant


    Dr. Santos graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and then completed an internship in small animal medicine at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners. Dr. Santos has been a part of Vetcare Animal Hospital for 17 years and in her free time, enjoys traveling, camping and spending time with her family and wonderful dogs, Rudy and Nugget.     Veterinary Technician

    April was born in Miami and is a 1993 C.V.T. graduate of St. Petersburg College. She is an accomplished Certified Veterinary Technician and her love of animals shines thru her care of her patients. April has acquired her skills by working at Northeast, Baymoorings, and Central Animal Hospital and K9 Rehab center in St. Petersburg, Florida, and joined VetCare Harris Animal Hospital in 2006. She has a 7-year-old border collie named Charlie and in her free time, April enjoys baking, cooking and playing Ice Hockey. She has since retired from a competitive women's travel ice hockey team however, she continues to play weekly at a local rink in Brandon in a men's league as well as local tournaments.     Christine is a Tampa native. She earned her Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Saint Petersburg College and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 1991. Radiology and laboratory testing are the areas she enjoys the most. Christine is married with 3 sons and a grandson. Pets outnumber the humans in their home as she has 3 dogs, 3 birds, and 3 leopard geckos. In her free time, she likes roller coasters/thrill rides and shopping. More Details >>

    Dana was born and raised in Tampa. Right out of high school she got a job at her family vet and learned all areas of the hospital.     Originally from Puerto Rico, Carlos moved to Palm Bay, Florida in his senior year of high school. He later relocated to Tampa in the summer of 2013 and became part of the VetCare Animal Hospital family. He and his wife, Joleiny, share their home with a crazy puppy named Max.     Sheila received her Associate of Science degree from Sanford Brown College and was hired on the Vetcare/Banfield team on August 1, 2016. She grew up in Bronx, NY and always knew her life would be devoted to saving the lives of our fellow companion animals. When not helping pets, she enjoys dancing, either out with friends, on her own in a studio or at a park. Sheila has 4 dogs and 2 cats, and yes, it is a handful.     Rhonda joined the Vet Care/Banfield team in 1999, and worked as a receptionist for 6 years and then cross trained to work all areas of the hospital. Her dream as a child was to be able to work with and help animals. Rhonda was born and raised in Florida. Her hobbies are horseback riding, camping and fishing, and she has 2 children, a daughter named Bobbi and a son named Garrett, who are her pride and joy!     Loujean is a Florida native, born and raised in Tampa. She is the mother of 3 children, "Granny" to 4 grandchildren, and has 2 pets, Gypsie Rose and Zinnia Anne. She worked for Allstate Insurance Company as a Claims Service Dispatcher for 11 years and was a Certified Nail Technician for 13 years before her current position with Vet Care Harris where she just celebrated her 20th year anniversary.     Beverly is from Sikeston, Missouri. She has loved working with animals since she was young, working throughout high school for Dr. Morris at Morris Animal Hospital in Missouri. She moved to Florida in 1980 with her daughter who is now 40 years old. She also has a 16-year-old son. Beverly started grooming animals in 1982 and began working for VetCare in 1994.
