Dr. Maria Pyrdek
Veterinarian
Dr. Pyrdek is a recent transplant to Southern California after graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2015. She enjoys the variety of pets and clients she works with every day. She worked with wildlife and exotic pets for several years prior to vet school, and continues to have a passion for working with exotics and pocket pets, including lizards, turtles, snakes, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rats. In her spare time, you can find her traveling around to new corners of the world, hiking mountains, or engrossed in a good book.

Dr. Heidi Markowitz
Veterinarian
Dr. Markowitz attended the University of Glasgow, UK and received her veterinary degree in 2010. She enjoyed living in the UK so much that she decided to stay and work there after graduation. Her first job after graduation was a busy small animal practice in Manchester, England. Dr. Markowitz worked there for just over 2 years before moving back to California to continue her career with Banfield in southern California. She currently has 2 cats, both rescues she fell in love with during her time in Manchester. They meow with an accent.

Shift Lead
Elena has been with Banfield since 2013 and is the Shift Lead at Seal Beach. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2014 and is currently enrolled in the Registered Veterinary Technician program through Banfield. Elena's passion for animals include her dog, Daisy, and her exotics (lizards, python, and tarantulas). She is grateful for the chance to work with animals and spread the word about the importance of preventive care.
