Dr. Natalie Brown
Veterinarian
Dr. Brown graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2011. She spent the next few years in small and exotic animal practice and earned a general practitioner certificate in exotic animal practice. Dr. Brown then moved to the U.S. and started working at Banfield before taking a year out to do primarily exotic animal practice. She then re-joined the Banfield team here in California. Dr. Brown has a special interest in small mammal medicine and enjoys seeing and treating a wide variety of exotic animal pets. Dr. Brown enjoys keeping fit, and is a member of a triathlon club and is training for an Ironman. She has two Guinea pigs named Yoda and Vader, who have free roam around her apartment living a life of luxury.

Dr. Lauren Shi
DVM
Dr. Shi received a bachelor's degree in biology from Missouri State University and then attended Veterinary Medical School at the University of Florida. She has been with Banfield for three years, and looks forward to many more. Dr. Shi and her husband live in San Jose with their Labrador and two dalmatians. She enjoys hiking, movies, traveling, and quality time with friends and family.

Dr. Emily Hwang
Veterinarian
Dr. Hwang graduated from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine down in Pomona, California. She moved back up to the Bay Area for her last year of school and went on different rotations around the area. Dr. Hwang is interested in soft tissue surgery, small animal medicine, and building a strong bond with animals and their families. During her downtime, she likes to relax at home with her dog named Cookie and cat named Rajah. On the other hand, Dr. Hwang also loves to travel around the world, go out on adventures, lifting and hikes.

Dr. Emily Shani
Chief of Staff
Dr. Shani earned her bachelor's degree in animal sciences from Cornell University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis. She has been practicing with Banfield since 2015 and as a South Bay native, was ecstatic to move back to the area in 2019. Dr. Shani focuses on forming strong and lasting relationships with clients and patients alike, and is a strong proponent of preventive care. She additionally has particular interests in behavior and surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Shani loves crafting (she even runs her own Etsy shop for pet apparel!), wine tasting with her husband, and doting on her two dogs, Polly and Ernie. She looks forward to meeting you and your family!

Veterinary Assistant
Catherine is currently attending San Jose State University majoring in Ecology and Evolution and plan to graduate Fall 2020. Her hopes are to attend a Veterinary school after she graduates. For her hobbies and interest, she loves to go hiking and spend time with her family back home in Stockton. Also, during her free time, she spends time with her three rabbits Luna, Benny, and Xena.

Deanna is currently in her last semester at Cal State East Bay majoring in communications and minoring in dance and anthropology. She has resided in San Jose all her life. Deanna has two rescues named Daisy and Nana and spends most of her free time going on hikes and to the beach. She has a strong passion for caring for animals and is excited to see where her journey at Banfield leads her.

Mirian (also known as Mary) has a customer experience background that will benefit her in this new career. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and family. Mirian attended San Jose State University for child development, and she enjoys trying new things and loves being a mother. She has always had a passion for helping others and working at Banfield gives her the opportunity to work with people and their loved ones.

Gillian (also known as Gill) is an avid animal lover and experienced caretaker. With 6 years of experience working at animal shelters across the greater Bay Area, she has been excited to have the opportunity to continue a career in animal care. While still working, Gillian is currently taking courses to further her educational goals towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. She currently resides in the South Bay Area with her cat, Zelda, by her side. Gillian is a talented animal photographer in her spare time, as well as an active hiker and at home baker!

Angel received her veterinary assistant certification through Boston Reed in 2013. She has three pets, Buster (a pit mix), Dakota (a chocolate lab), and Star (a 5-year-old rabbit). Angel likes to take her dogs to the lake to swim and venture out, and give Star lots of treats for being so cute.

Patricia, also known as Patty, graduated from Carrington College in June 2014 with an A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology. Since she started her exciting new career, she has strengthened her skills as a vet tech. Patty has found that she loves to do anesthesia, radiology, and especially dental radiology - with many hidden things underneath a pets gums, who knows what there is to find.
