Hi Robert, there are a few parasites that can potentially infect dogs and people. These include roundworms, hookworms, and giardia. There can be others but these are the ones more commonly seen in digs. There can also be other diseases that can potentially pass between owners and dogs. These include ringworm, leptospirosis, and rabies. I recommend that you talk to your veterinarian about the risk of any of these parasites or diseases. They know your pet and the local area and can give you the best advice on this.
