Ask a Vet Archive

When it comes to your pet's health, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Search questions real clients have submitted to our popular Ask a Vet Q&A series, and then submit a question of your own.

  • The pond at my apartment is full of frogs and my dog likes to try to pounce and eat them - so far without success. Will biting or ingesting the frogs make my dog sick?

Biting the frog should cause no problems. There can be issues if he eats the frog. I recommend trying to keep him from biting or eating the frogs, if possible.

If he does get a frog it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or lack of appetite. If you see any of these signs he needs to see his veterinarian immediately.
