  • Please give details on dealing with a dog in heat! Do they have pads for them to wear to curtail the bleeding? What else should we know?

    There are specialized pads that can be used for dogs that are in heat. You should be able to find these at your local PetSmart. She can be in heat for up to 3 weeks.

    It is important that you keep her under observation at all times if you do not want to breed her. Male dogs are very sly when trying to get to a female that is in heat. Often they can find a way into even a fenced yard to breed.
