Ask a Vet Archive

When it comes to your pet's health, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Search questions real clients have submitted to our popular Ask a Vet Q&A series, and then submit a question of your own.

  • What can help a pet with arthritis?

Several potential medications can help arthritic pets. Steroids (cortisone, etc.), NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and cartilage protectants.

You should consider discussing all these options with your pet's veterinarian. There may be medications other than steroids that can help. Some tests may also be needed to diagnosis how severe the problem is currently and where it is present.
