Diarrhea is a very non-specific sign and can be related to many things, either a primary intestinal problem or the manifestation of some other disease process. While the poor eating could be from his teeth, I would think his gastrointestinal issues are the more likely reason. You are doing the right thing by taking him back in, at which point the vet may want to do some testing to look for as well as rule out other causes. It can be very difficult to diagnose and resolve chronic gastrointestinal issues, and I hope that isn’t the case in your situation.
