• My dog keeps coughing and I have an appointment for her to get shots next Friday but was wondering what could be going on. I just got her from a rescue but she had her shots just given to her on September 14th and we got her this part Saturday. I have a recording of her making the coughing noise if I need to send that to help

    HI Mariah,
I recommend that you take her into see a veterinarian prior to your visit for vaccines. Coughing in dogs can be caused by many different things ranging from an upper respiratory infection to something more severe like heart disease or pneumonia. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of her coughing after they have examined her. They may recommend some lab tests and/or x-rays to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that she needs will depend on the underlying cause of the cough.
