  • My dog is currently being treated for Giardia. Today, is his last day of medication. However, he is still having extremely soft feces....doesn't really hold shape & it is yellow in color. For the past few days, with medication, he has been eating chicken and rice and yesterday we started incorporating a small amount of his normal dry food. is this normal?

    Hi Kristen,
If the soft stool has continued, I recommend that you take him back into see your local veterinarian. The soft feces even while being treated for giardia is concerning. This could be from a resistant infection but it could also mean that there is something else going on. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of this after they have examined him. They may recommend rechecking the giardia or other lab tests to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause of his symptoms.
