• My dog has a hacking cough and than “spits up” white foamy liquid. It has become more recent and frequent within the past couple weeks. I’m not sure if I should be concerned or not. He eats grass very freuquntly and I am not sure why he does this, but could this be the cause of the cough and spit up?

    Hi Autumn,
I recommend that you take him into see a veterinarian as soon as possible. The coughing that you are describing is concerning. This can be caused by something relatively minor like allergies or an upper respiratory infection but there can be other more serious causes like heart disease or pneumonia. Your vet can talk to you more about the potential cause after they have examined him. They may recommend some lab tests and/or x-rays to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause of the cough.
