Hi Sierra, I recommend that you talk to your local Banfield veterinarian about this. Declawing should be the last resort in situations like this. Often behavior modification can work to prevent the scratching. Your vet can get some more information from you on the underlying cause of the behavior which will then help them design a behavior modification plan that is specific to your cat.
