  • My cat has peed and pooped on our couch twice this week after not doing so before in the three and a half years I've had him. He seems to show no other behavioral changes recently and his litter box is clean. I did change his litter recently but it's a brand and style he's familiar with, even if it's not one he uses consistently. He seems happy and fine otherwise. Is this a reaction to the litter or could it be a medical issue?

    Hi Kyle,
This sounds like a big behavior change for your cat. Cats will often urinate or defecate outside of their litter box to let their owner know there is an issue. I would recommend taking you cat to the veterinarian where they can help to determine if this is related to the change in the litter or if there is an underlying medical condition causing this change.
