I do recommend that you have your pet examined by a veterinarian. A lump can be caused by a few different things including infection, an injury, a mass, or an underlying medical issue. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of the lump after they have examined him. They may recommend a lab test to help diagnose or rule out certain causes. Any treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause of the lump.
