Hi Kristin,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about your concerns. There has been a link between grain free diets and heart disease. What is not known is if it is specific to certain pets, certain foods, or any other issues. While substituting taurine has worked in some pets in may not work in all of them. Your vet knows your pet’s medical history and they will be able to give you the best advice on this. If taurine supplementation is needed they can give you the correct dose. If a change in food is needed they can help you choose the one that will be best for him.
