• I've given my dog Trifexisus since I got him as a puppy and I'm wondering if I can switch to Heartguard for heartworm prevention. He's 10 months old and we live in an apartment so I'm not worried about ticks. While he does go to daycare some days, I don't worry about him getting fleas either. If those things don't pose a concern to me, would I be able to make that switch to just a heartworm prevention medicine for him?

    Hi Rachel,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about this question. The risk of fleas and ticks will depend on where you live as well as the environment that your pet is exposed to. Your vet knows your pet and the local area so they will be able to give you the best advice on this.
