• How long does it take to cure tapeworm in my cat after treatment? Can I leave my cat at a boarding house not to spread tapeworms?

Most tapeworm medications kill the adult tapeworms within 24 hours after they are given. In some cases a second dose is needed 3-4 weeks later to kill any remaining adults and those that were larva at the time of the treatment. I recommend that you ask the veterinarian who prescribed the treatment about how fast the medication they prescribed works.

As far as boarding your cat, that is generally not needed due to the fact that the tapeworm treatment works so fast. Your veterinarian can also advise you on this.
