• Hello, at our last wellness visit, the vet noticed a circular flat mass (~2mm) extending inwards from the iris and colored similarly. We were told to keep an eye on it to see if it grows. We suspect a uveal melanoma and have read that early treatment with a diode laser iridectomy could prevent it from growing and potentially resulting in uveitis, glaucoma, or enucleation. What resources does Banfield have to diagnose and treat the tumor and does our Wellness plan contribute? Thank you.

    Hi Jason,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local Banfield Veterinarian about your questions. They know your pet’s medical history and the resources available  in your area so they will be better able to answer the question about what can be done at our hospital. In complicated cases involving the eye your vet may refer you to a local veterinary ophthalmologist. This is a vet who specializes in eye diseases.
