Some reptiles are smarter than others. Rather than tricks, most reptiles can learn to associate a cause with an effect. Snakes are not known to be very intelligent, but some can learn associations when it comes to people and appropriate reptile food. Do not expect your pet snake to learn how to sit or speak, but be sure to establish good routines at a young age, because they can remember those routines for the rest of their lives. Turtles, on the other hand, are quite intelligent for reptiles. They can learn associations, routines, and even distinguish individual humans. Some turtles can even be potty trained, but again, don’t expect your turtle to understand voice commands like dogs do.
