Dr. Barquet was born and raised in Puerto Rico surrounded by her family’s dogs, cats, sheep, goats and Paso Fino horses. During her undergraduate and graduate career at the University of Florida, she worked as a veterinary technician at an equine hospital. She then completed her DVM at Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2012 where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Phi Zeta veterinary honors society. After a year of equine internship/practice, Dr. Barquet moved to Texas in 2013 and has since practiced small animal medicine with Banfield, first in McAllen and then in Conroe. Her areas of interest include surgery, ophthalmology and geriatric care/chronic pain management. When not working, she can be found at home with her husband, stepson, 4 dogs and cat. She spends her free time hiking, camping, kayaking, baking, missing the beach and spending an evening with a good book.
