Dr. Amiri was born in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from George Mason University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and philosophy. She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Dr. Amiri’s interests include rescue, ultrasound, dermatology, oncology, and nutrition/alternative therapies. Her philosophy in medicine is to have open communication between herself and clients in order to best advocate for their pet’s health and allow them to make proactive, informed decisions about their pet's care. At home, she has a Havanese, a standard poodle, a Great Pyrenees, and a Devon Rex, along with 5 other cats. She also has three children. Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include a black belt in Kendo, traveling, and attending music events, and Dragoncon.
