Ricardo Barreto Herrera, DVM
Veterinarian

Grew up around farms since both my parent's families owned cattle farm. Since I can remember I always wanted to be a veterinarian. Did Equestrian Jumping all my life, so horses were always my passion. Graduated back in 1990 in Universidad Central de Venezuela, I went to work as General Manager at a 600 registered Holstein Farm and to do private practice with cattle, focusing in Herd Health, Reproduction and Animal Welfare management. I also worked with Dairy Water Buffalos and during 25 years had my own 150 Dairy goat farm. In 2018 I had to move to USA from my beloved VENEZUELA, because of political reasons. Got my Florida License in June 2021, and since August I became part of Banfield Family. Practicing Companion animal medicine is new to me, but having a solid base Veterinary Education and with the proper training received from my mentor Dr Davidson, I know consider myself enthusiastic small animal veterinarian always seeking to learn and improve every day. Father of 4 and happily married, I enjoy spending time with my family, and while horses are in a halt at this moment, my other Passion is Golf and I am proud to be THE CDC ( caddy-daddy-coach), as he calls me, of RAFA, my ten-year-old son and travel around South Florida for his tournaments.
