vaccinations for your new puppy

The facts on vaccinations for your pup

Your little bundle of puppy love relies on you to keep them healthy, happy, and safe. One of the most important steps to take, within the first 6 months and throughout your puppy’s life, is to make sure they are up to date on all of their vaccinations. Here’s what to know about which ones your puppy really needs, when your puppy needs them, and what to know about costs.

Core and non-core vaccinations

Vaccines fall into one of two categories: Core and Non-Core.

Core vaccines are the ones we recommend for the majority of puppies, based largely on their health. They are vital to ensure the well-being of both you and your BFF.

Non-core vaccines are recommended based on your puppy’s lifestyle, and sometimes on your geographical location. Talk to your veterinary team about non-core vaccines if any of these activities are a constant in your puppy’s life:

  • Frequent visits to dog parks or doggie day care
  • Going on hikes
  • Spending a long time outdoors in the yard
  • Scheduled visits to a groomer

Core Non-core*
Distemper / Parvo combination

These diseases cause a variety of issues like lethargy, fever and eye discharge, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting.
