Dr. Rebecca Zelada
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Rebecca Zelada is a 2017 graduate from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. Her fields interest include dermatology and ophthalmology. Dr. Zelada was raised in Nebraska, but returned to her birth state of California to begin her career and to escape the cold, icy winters of the Midwest. She has one cat, Bruce, and one dog, Mickey. She spends here free time reading, hiking, and learning the guitar.

Rosie Hernandez
Practice Manager
Rosie is honored and pleased to be a part of the Banfield family. She started in 2013 as a client service coordinator, was promoted to shift lead in mid 2016, and was recently given the opportunity to succeed as practice manager! Rosie is a proud pet parent to Abby, a 4-year-old Maltese, and Precious, a 7-year-old Chihuahua. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano and spending quality time outdoors with her family. Rosie has always had a passion for learning, growing in her career, and striving to help others. She enjoys being able to help her team and learn with them. Rosie is very enthusiastic about the difference she can make for our clients and their pets, and looks forward to continuing being a leader in associate engagement, preventive care, and client experience. Melissa Frea, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Melissa has worked for Banfield since 2015, and began her career here by doing an internship while in veterinary technician school at Carrington. During her undergraduate studies at CSUMB, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-med, she had the opportunity to volunteer in the clinic at the SPCA. This is where she fell in love with the RVT position and knew this is what she wanted to do. Melissa is passionate about providing the best care to each pet who visits, and she really enjoys surgery. Her love for animals doesn't stop at work, Melissa has 2 cats and a bearded dragon, and grew up with many dogs. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family going to the beach, boating, and playing sports.

Destinee Alcocer
Shift Lead
Destinee started her career at Banfield in 2012 as a client service coordinator and worked her way to shift lead. She grew up in Salinas and graduated from Central Coast College in 2011. She has always been passionate about helping people and animals, and the most fulfilling part of being with Banfield is knowing she's helped to save a pet's life. Destinee also really enjoys connecting and building relationships with our clients and their pets. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 3 children, Joseph, Shanel and James.

Veterinary Assistant
Anne has been with Banfield for 5 years and grew up in the Watsonville area. Animals have always been a part of her life. She has a B.A. degree in radio and television from San Francisco State but after getting her own dog, Carmine, she was inspired to learn more about caring for animals and received an A.S. degree from Carrington College. Anne looks forward to helping provide the best possible care for your pets.

Veterinary Assistant
Kat has been with Banfield since the end of 2016, and absolutely loves the opportunity to work with such amazing people and adorable animals! She is a huge animal lover and has two dogs, four leopard geckos, a salamander, and a turtle. She also enjoys working with kids. When not at work, Kat tries to volunteer in a pre-kinder classroom in Prunedale. She's excited to see everything Banfield has in store for her, and meet all the wonderful clients that come into our clinic!

Veterinary Assistant
Valerie has been working as a veterinary assistant at Banfield since January 2017. Before working at Banfield, she graduated from Gonzales High School in June 2011, and went to Hartnell College for general education and biology. Growing up with various pets, she always cared for the health and well-being of animals. Valerie has a lovable 8-year-old pit bull named Baby, who is her everything. She has been in the U.S. Army for over 3 years and is still currently enlisted. Valerie's first priority has always been her pets and she wants pet parents to know that she will treat your pet as if they were her own.

Melina grew up in the Monterrey County area and graduated from Central Coast College as a veterinary assistant in 2016. Before she started at Banfield, she worked in other veterinary hospitals in South County and Salinas. She has now been working in the veterinary field for about 3 years, and has worked with both large and small animals. Melina hopes to become a registered veterinary technician in a few years. She has 4 pets including Fluffy, an 8-year-old Maltese, Towie, a 7-year-old miniature Poodle, Bella, a 5-year-old Papillon, and Scarlett, a rabbit. In her spare time, Melina enjoys off roading, horseback riding, camping, traveling, and hiking with her family and pets.

Client Service Coordinator
Perla joined the Banfield team in 2015, and is usually the first person you'll see when you walk into the hospital. What she loves most about her job is setting a friendly atmosphere for clients and their pets. In her free time, she loves to sing and catch up on her favorite Netflix shows. Perla aspires to grow her future in the animal field, and continue to show people how to love and properly care for their pets.
