• We have six Rottweiler puppies. My wife seems to think it is a good idea to give these newborn pups human baby formula. They have already thrown up from this and I am trying to tell her to use puppy formula since the mother cannot give milk. Please advise on the best thing to do.

All animal species have a specific composition of their “mother’s milk”. Human is very different from dog, and although none of the formulas available for human or dog do a perfect job imitating the correct balance of nutrients for their specific species, dog formula will be much closer to dog milk than human formula would be.

In the absence of dog formula, human formula might be better than regular cow milk, but it would still not be as good as the dog formula. I am curious, however, why they can not get their mother’s milk from her as this would be the best nutrition possible for them.
