• So we have an appointment for our Bernese mountain dog to be spayed when she’s 6 months . The Question is since she’s a large breed and they mature slower should we wait longer before we get her spayed or is six months okay ?

    Hi Brandon,
There are benefits to spaying at a younger age including improved recovery time and reduction in certain disease possibilities. It is often recommended to spay a female prior to her first heat cycle for these same reasons. If you have concerns about the timing of the spay for your dog, I would recommend speaking with your veterinarian as they will know your pet’s specific needs.
