Ask a Vet Archive

When it comes to your pet's health, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Search questions real clients have submitted to our popular Ask a Vet Q&A series, and then submit a question of your own.

  • My indoor/outdoor cat has recently been pulling out her hair, but it always grows back. Could this be related to allergies or the dry air in a house?

There can be many causes for cats pulling out their hair. It can be a sign of a primary skin disease. However, sometimes this can be a sign of a serious medical concern.

I recommend that you take her into see her veterinarian as soon as possible. If it a serious disease, the sooner it is caught, the better. Your veterinarian can let you know what is the best treatment based on what is causing the hair loss.
