• Our dog has been vomiting on and off the past 36 hours, Feed half his normal food and he got sick and then next feeding we tried rice and he threw it all up and he has pooped once. Vomit is bile like and he has no temperature (101.8). Is there something I can give him to help settle the stomach? He chews up and/or eats a lot of things he shouldn't as we try to catch him. How would we know if he has something lodged in his belly instead of it being just sick? thanks :) Jerady

    Hi Jerady,
I recommend that you take him into see a veterinarian as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Vomiting that has continued this long is very concerning and could be caused by a GI foreign body. If this is the case then it is an emergency. There can be other causes for the vomiting as well including infection, inflammation of the GI tract, intestinal parasites, or an underlying medical issue. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of the vomiting after they have examined him. They will likely recommend some lab tests and/or x-rays to help diagnose or rule out certain causes. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause and severity of his symptoms.
