• My pet was prescribed selegiline 1.25mg twice every morning for basically soiling the carpet, her sleeping areas, etc., she has had not been diagnosed with cushings disease and I have not started her on it yet. She’s been on proin 25mg and she was also placed in estrogen prior and had side effects with both. The proin made her very lethargic and wired and the estrogen made her vagina swell. I’m not sure if she has urjnary incontinence but I know she’s stopped barking and seems antisocial sometimes. My question is since this selegiline only comes in 5mg and up and at the pharmacy they said it would be $4,400 and it’s only in brand name for dogs.; do you have any other options or supplements that can be used? She seems to go out and come back in and in less than an hour it’s a little spot or two and especially when she sleeps, she’s in a puddle then moves to another area. I Take her out every 3-4 hours or less and she doesn’t have a UTI and her urine doesn’t really have a strong odor.

    Hi Sonda,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about this question. There may be other medications that can be used but this will depend on your individual pet, the medications and dosages used in the past, and any other underlying health issues. Your vet knows your pet’s medical history and they will be able to give you the best answer on potential next steps for her.
