I recommend that you take your dog into see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Licking objects or carpet can be caused by nausea. However, this behavior along with the aggression could be a primary behavior issue as well. You vet can talk to you more about the cause of the licking and aggression after they have examined him. The may recommend some lab tests and/or x-rays to help with the diagnosis. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause of his symptoms.
