• My dog is housebroken and very well trained. She never has accidents in the house. She will also let us know when she needs to go out. This morning she had an accident and her urine was darker in color than usual and may have had a little blood in it, however it is hard to tell. She isn't showing any other signs of pain or discomfort. What should we look out for to know when it is time to bring her to the vet?

    Hi Jonathan,
I recommend that you take her into see a veterinarian as soon as possible if you have not already done so. From what you are describing, the urinary accident along with a change in urine color is concerning. These symptoms can have a few different causes including  a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney disease, or even certain underlying medical issues. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of her symptoms after they have examined her. They will like recommend a urinalysis to help diagnose or rule out certain causes. The treatment that she needs will depend on the underlying cause of her symptoms.
