• My dog is about 9 months now. He has been experiencing loose stool for 2 days now and I'm starting to get a little concerned. Yesterday I started him on steamed chicken breast and brown rice with a little chicken broth to see if that would help. After about 20 hours on the chicken there is no real improvement in his movements. He is showing no other signs like fatigue or pain when I press around his midsection. He is still very energetic. We did switch his soft food recently and he has had some ill effects from switching his food in the past. I am going to set an appointment for him as he in need of one from the website however, I would like some insight into if I should take him in any sooner then then normal appointment. Thanks, Robert FitzGerald

    Hi Robert,
If the diarrhea has continued, I recommend that you take him into see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Diarrhea that lasts longer than 24 hours is concerning. This could be associated with the change in food but there can be other causes as well. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of his symptoms after they have examined him. They may recommend some lab tests to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause and severity of the symptoms.
