• My dog is 6 month old Great Dane who seems to have persistent stomach problems when he eats kibble. He has been placed on prescription food Hills I/D dry food. The first few days the diarrhea did not go away so I started to feed him rice and chicken and he went back to pooping normal. I have slowly been adding the prescription food into his chicken and rice but I am scared that if I take the chicken and rice away completely he will go back to having diarrhea. Is their an appropriate ratio where I can continue to feeding him both which will be at good nutritional balance for a growing Great Dane. He seems so happy now that his tummy is getting a break. I have been feeding him 1 1/2 cups of I/D and 1 cup of chicken and 2 cups of rice twice a day. We used to feed him 4 cups of kibble twice a day. Thank you,

    Hi Lisa,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about this question. It is important in growing giant breed dogs that the nutrients they are taking in are balanced in the correct way. The best thing to feed your pet will depend on his overall health and medical history. Your local vet knows your pet and will be able to recommend the food that will be best to balance both his GI issues and growth.
