Ask a Vet Archive

When it comes to your pet's health, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Search questions real clients have submitted to our popular Ask a Vet Q&A series, and then submit a question of your own.

  • My dog has been puking at least once a day for the last five days. Other than her coughing and vomiting she is acting normal. What should I do?

I recommend that you take her into see your veterinarian immediately. The vomiting can have many different causes. These can include a primary issue with the GI system or it can be a sign of an underlying medical disease. Some of these can become a serious or even life threatening if they are not treated.

Your veterinarian may need to run some laboratory tests to help diagnose the cause of the vomiting. Any treatment that she needs will depend on the underlying cause of the vomiting. Good luck!
