• My dog has been chewing on his (I guess what would be his) "ankle" region for a couple weeks now. I didn't think anything of it but then i looked and there is a dime sized red splotchy patch. If I touch it, he will lick it right after. He went to the vet around three weeks ago and she only found one flea and since then has taken one round of oral medicine. Could it be that or something else? Should I schedule an appointment?

    Hi Taylor,
With the spot that you are describing, it would be best for you to take him into see a veterinarian. Allergies or fleas can potentially cause the symptoms that you are describing but there could be other more severe underlying causes as well. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of this after they have examined him. They may recommend some lab tests to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that he needs will depend on the underlying cause of the symptoms.
