  • My dog has an abscess on her side. She was seen by the vet on Friday, in which they did a cytology and gave her antibiotics. She’s been on the antibiotics for 5 days and the lump does not appear to be going down at all. It seems not to bother her unless we touch it, her appetite and energy are good. Should we take her back into banfield

    Hi Katlynn,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local Banfield hospital.  How fast the abscess should heal will depend on a few factors including the size and location of the lump. Your vet knows your pet and they can give you the best advice on when you should start to see the lump get smaller. They can also let you know if she should be examined again.
