• My dachshund received her vaccines today. Typically she doesn’t have adverse reactions, even small ones. Her nose is swelling and she keeps batting at it. If I touch it, she doesn’t seem to have any pain. I think her nose is itchy. Her breathing is normal. What can I do to make her more comfortable? Should I be concerned with the swelling?

    Hi Haley,
The swelling is concerning for a possible vaccine reaction, which are common in dachshunds, even if she has never had one before. I would recommend calling your veterinarian right away to report the symptoms and then have her seen. The concern would be that the reaction could get worse. The veterinarian can discuss ways of trying to prevent reactions in the future as well.
