Ask a Vet Archive

When it comes to your pet's health, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Search questions real clients have submitted to our popular Ask a Vet Q&A series, and then submit a question of your own.

  • My cat has three lumps right around her nipples. One is large, around the size of a small golf ball. the others are around the size of quarters. What could this be? She hasn't gone into heat for about a month. Could this be a sign she is pregnant?

I recommend that you take your cat into see your veterinarian immediately. These lumps can be a sign of pregnancy, but it can also be a sign of breast cancer. The fact that only three of her nipples are involved concerns me that it may not be related to pregnancy.

Your veterinarian can perform a thorough physical exam on her and give you a better idea of what may be causing the lumps.
