• My Bernese Mountain dog has developed a rash on his groin/underside area. He is trying to lick and bite it often which results in scabs and more redness. This has been going on for about a month now. We are wondering what the cause of this may be.

    Hi Ryan,
I recommend that you take him into see a veterinarian. The scabs, itchiness, and redness are concerning and can be a sign of an underlying skin infection. This infection could be the primary cause of the symptoms but there can be other causes for these symptoms including allergies, skin mites, fleas, food allergies, or even an underlying medical issue. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of his symptoms and the treatment he needs after they have examined him.
