  • My 7 year old male mix has recently started displaying signs of what I would classify as anxiety. It's not all the time but a month ago for example , he chewed a door knob and tried to scratch through a wood door. Now just yesterday, the same door, He scratched and chewed through the entire inside panel. This is behavior he has never displayed. The last visit we discussed xanax. Is that ok and what would the dosage be?

    Hi Laura,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about this. The scratching and chewing at a door is concerning and it can be from anxiety. The best treatment will depend on when the behavior occurs, the trigger of the behavior, and your pet’s overall health. Your local vet knows your pet and they can recommend the medications and behavior modification plan that will be best for your pet.
