• My 6 months old cat, Darwin, is going to be neutered in a week. I've researched how to take care of after neutering and I have two questions. 1. It says that I need to change the litter to shredded newspapers due to the worry of infection. But as felines can't adjust themselves to new litters immediately, I was wondering if I need to change the current litter now to the shredded paper to give Darwin time to adjust to the new one. Or is it even necessary to change to the shredded newspapers after the neutering? 2. Should I change cat food to adult food or is it okay to keep kitten food?

    Hi Jean,
I recommend that you call and talk to your local veterinarian about these questions. A change in litter may not be needed if he is just getting neutered. However, this will depend on the individual pet, the way the surgery is performed, and the vet’s individual preference. Your vet knows your pet and they can give you the best advice on this and also on when it will be best to switch him from kitten to adult food.
