• Kate (nearly 8 month old morkie) has had diarrhea for about 30 hours now... she's in great spirits, all normal energy, eating and drinking, but super frequent and super loose stool. At what point do I take her to see a Vet? what signs should I be looking for that it's more serious? and what kinds of things should I do to help her in the meantime?

    Hi Kristin,
I recommend that you take her into see a veterinarian as soon as possible if the diarrhea has not resolved. Diarrhea for longer than 24 hours is concerning and is not likely to resolve without treatment. There are many different causes for diarrhea in dogs including infection, inflammation of the GI tract, intestinal parasites, or a more serious underlying medical issue. Your vet can talk to you more about the cause of her diarrhea after they have examined her. They may recommend some lab tests to help diagnose or rule out certain diseases. The treatment that she needs will depend on the underlying cause of the diarrhea.
