  • Recently, my year-old female Russian tortoise has had an issue with feeding: she does not seem to want to go to her food, but will eat what is placed in front of her. She walks around her cage with reduced frequency. I think she may be suffering from the stress of relocation as I recently picked her up from a friend's house who was watching her for me over the holidays. Please let me know if you have any insight. Thanks!

This can be caused by a few different things. It may be something like the change in environment or there could be an underlying medical issue. If the behavior continues for more than 1 week I recommend that you take her into see a veterinarian that sees reptiles. They can examine her for any underlying diseases or other issues. They can recommend any treatment that she needs after the exam.
